Paper

Paper fascinates me—whether it’s old envelopes salvaged from an estate sale, teabags and cereal boxes rescued from household wastebaskets, painted papers and ephemera, detritus from my workspace, or fragments of my own discarded artwork.

Many of the pieces are hand-stitched with thread or wire, and some are dyed using tea, onion skin, or kakishibu (fermented persimmon juice).

My collages are layered compositions built on discarded monotype prints or wood panels, then sanded to reveal hidden seams and lines, stained with ink, or painted with acrylic gouache.
